Kill Active Sessions On a Server Using Command Prompt

First rule is you need to have proper permissions to access the server to which you are trying to reset the connections.

If you do not know the server IP address you can find it using the following CMD command.
ping yourservername

Then run the following command to get the sessions on the server.
qwinsta /server:203.0.156.203

Get the ID of the session you want to kill.
rwinsta [SessionID] /server:203.0.156.203

How I started Programming

At the early stage of my university studies, I was learning the basics of computer programming. To be honest, first few months were a nightmare. I couldn’t  figure out what I was learning, what’s the actual real world use of those printing triangles, squares and different shapes using “for” and “while” loops. C and C++ were the languages our lecturer thought us during the first two semesters of our university studies.

Somehow I managed to complete the first year of my uni studies but still didn’t know much about programming. All I did was reading the text books, lecture slides and prepare for the exams.

At the end of second year we were asked to complete a group project. We were allowed to use any programming language and come up with a software system to build. I was assigned to a group with other four strangers and there was a guy who had some idea about programming, so we elected him as our leader. Working close to him, I gradually got the hang of how to actually programme. We choose PHP as our primary programming language. I was given the task to build the logging screen and some views. I spent one and half week’s in front of the computer searching on google about how to get started with PHP.

After a couple of weeks, I was in a position to design a simple web page, add some text boxes and buttons and connect to a database. During the next few days, I practiced how to insert data to MYSQL database and how to retrieve it and display on the web page. By now I had a much clear idea about the actual use of programming.

During our third year studies we were mostly taught about JAVA and C#. That’s the time where things really started to work for me. I got kind of addicted to C#. Writing small programs during my free time, teaching others the basic concepts, reading tutorials made things even more awesome.
By the end of fourth year I was a pretty good programmer. A lot of guys took tuition from me and I was really happy to help them out. On our final year research project I was the main programmer and we managed to compete in a national level competition in Sri Lanka but unfortunately, we couldn’t winL. Anyway,   it was a great experience.

After completing four years in university and learning different programming languages, finally I settled with C# to start my career. Took me a couple of months to find my first job in C# and at the same time managed to find some part time work as well so, the income was better than I expected J.

Now after several years of programming, working for several companies, I moved to Australia. Right now I’m working as a “Solutions Consultant” in a Melbourne based company. That’s my journey as a programmer and I hope I could learn many things in the years to come. J

How to perform Email Campaigning for a Website

For your online business to get succeed you need traffic from targeted sources. While you are performing the SEO tasks you might also focus on performing a  Email Campaigning for some targeted users.

So what you do in Email Campaigning is write a good description about your business and send it as a bulk email to users in your email list.

After you have sent the the emails you need to know whether the users viewed your website through the appended link on your email body. In that case you can use Google Analytic to find it out.

Below are the steps to perform a Email Campaigning with Google Analytics.

  1. Go to Google URL Builder and generate your URL.
  2. Now add the generated URL in your Email Body.
  3. Send the mail.
  4. After about one day go to your Google Analytics account.
  5. Go to Traffic Sources -> Sources -> Campaigning

Now you'll see the visits to your site through the link that you have added on the Email body.

NOTE: Google Analytics pull data at 21:00 GMT (17:00 EDT, 16:00 EST) for the previous day. All times are based around GMT, so if you send something around GMT and are in a different time zone, it is likely that no data will show up for what may seem like 2 days to you.

Risk Involved in FOREX marketing

Everyone wants to get rich quickly. Of course as far as I have experienced the best way to get rich quickly by sitting in front of your computer is doing FOREX marketing saying that remember it’s also the best option to lose money quickly.

In FOREX marketing there is a great deal of risk involved. Unless you are having a good knowledge of the market behavior, bit of mathematics or at least if you don’t have anyone experienced to help you with do not start FOREX marketing.

Believe me you can lose your whole year of earnings within few hours on a one bad day. I have experienced in such situations. I made quite considerable amount of money within several months but I lost all those hardly earned money within one day. We cannot predict the behavior of the FOREX market on a certain day; it’s subjected to change very quickly depending on various factors.

So if you are thinking to start FOREX marketing I advise you to think twice before you lose your money. There are many other ways you can earn money.

One method I used to earn money is ProfitClicking. You’ll never lose your money if you follow methods like profitclicking. They are money investment programs and you’ll be getting a daily commission.

Advantages and Disadvantages of LATEX

See this post to understand what is LATEX.

Advantages

  1. Professional typesetting
  2. Best output
  3. It is the standard for scientific documents
  4. Processing Mathematical (& other) symbols
  5. Meaning based structuring (rather than appearance)
  6. Knowledgeable and helpful user group
  7. Its FREE!
  8. Platform independent
  9. Professionally crafted layouts are available, which make a document really look as if “printed.”
  10. Users only need to learn a few easy-to-understand commands that specify the logical structure of a document. They almost never need to tinker with the actual layout of the document.
  11. Even complex structures such as footnotes, references, table of contents, and bibliographies can be generated easily.
  12. Free add-on packages exist for many typographical tasks not directly supported by basic LATEX. For example, packages are available to include PostScript graphics or to typeset bibliographies conforming to exact standards.].
  13. LATEX encourages authors to write well-structured texts, because this is how LATEX works—by specifying structure.
  14. TEX, the formatting engine of LATEX, is highly portable and free. Therefore the system runs on almost any hardware platform available.

Disadvantages

  1. “Hard to write disorganized documents”*
  2. Learning Curve
  3. Customizing is tedious.

What is Latex?

What is Tex

A typesetting program for professional quality documents.

especially those containing a lot of mathematical symbols.

Runs on multiple platforms.

Comes in PlainTeX, LaTex, AMS-LaTeX, etc.

Latex

Latex is an extension of TeX

Latex is the most popular Macro packages with a set of functions that makes the TeX language more friendlier and easier.

developed in 1985 by Leslie Lamport

Provides many convenient features such as automatic cross-references, footnotes, glossary, table of contents, and bibliographic features.

LaTeX is typeset like

It also encourages authors to separate the content of the document from the presentation aspects.

Many style files are available that provide more features.

In a LATEX environment, LATEX takes the role of the book designer and uses TEX as its typesetter.

But LATEX is “only” a program and therefore needs more guidance. The author has to provide additional information to describe the logical structure of his work. This information is written into the text as “LATEX commands.”

Why is it different from word processors

High typeset quality

Easy to include math formulas

Source file format is not bounded to a particular OS or platform

Latex implementations exists for all platforms (DOS, Windows, Unices,..)

Latex is free

Word processors are WYSIWYG

With WYSIWYG systems, authors often generate aesthetically pleasing documents with very little or inconsistent structure. LATEX prevents such formatting errors by forcing the author to declare the logical structure of his document. LATEX then chooses the most suitable layout.

Very few bugs

Good for large documents

Storage Types in Data Warehousing

MOLAP - Multidimensional OLAP

The MOLAP environment consists of a multi-dimensional cube with all possible perspectives pre-calculated. Therefore MOLAP applications do have a high performance. At the same time the need a lot of disk capacity to store all the pre-calculated figures.

ROLAP - Relational OLAP

The ROLAP environment consist of a relational database with a OLAP query engine. Every information need is calculated on the fly by the OLAP query engine. therefore ROLAP most times has a slower performance. Never the less, it needs less disk space to store the data.

HOLAP - Hybrid OLAP

The HOLAP environment consists of both a relation database and a preconfigured multi-dimension cube. Most times you can be flexible in keeping information in the relational database and/or the preconfigured multi-dimensional cube.

WOLAP - Web enabled OLAP

The frontend user can access the OLAP application through a web browser.

DOLAP - Desktop OLAP

All the OLAP functionality can be performed on a Desktop PC. Most other OLAP mentioned here are client-server and/or server based database applications.

Types of Data Warehousing

Off line Data Warehouse

Data warehouses at this stage are updated from data in the operational systems on a regular basis and the data warehouse data is stored in a data structure designed to facilitate reporting.

Real Time Data Warehouse

Data warehouses at this stage are updated every time an operational system performs a transaction (e.g. an order or a delivery or a booking.)

Integrated Data Warehouse

Data warehouses at this stage are updated every time an operational system performs a transaction. The data warehouses then generate transactions that are passed back into the operational systems.

Linear Regression

Discuss basic ideas of linear regression and correlation.
_ Create and interpret a line of best fit.
_ Calculate and interpret the correlation coefficient.
_ Calculate and interpret outliers.

1.1 Introduction

Professionals often want to know how two or more variables are related. For example, is there a relationship between the grade on the second math exam a student takes and the grade on the final exam? If there is a relationship, what is it and how strong is the relationship?
In another example, your income may be determined by your education, your profession, your years of experience, and your ability. The amount you pay a repair person for labor is often determined by an initial amount plus an hourly fee. These are all examples in which regression can be used. The type of data described in the examples is bivariate data - "bi" for two variables. In reality, statisticians use multivariate data, meaning many variables.

In this chapter, you will be studying the simplest form of regression, "linear regression" with one independent variable (x). This involves data that fits a line in two dimensions. You will also study correlation which measures how strong the relationship is.

1.2 Linear Equations

Linear regression for two variables is based on a linear equation with one independent variable. It has the form:
                        y = a + bx
where a and b are constant numbers.

x is the independent variable, and  is the dependent variable. Typically, you choose a value to substitute for the independent variable and then solve for the dependent variable.

Example 1

The following examples are linear equations.
                                     y = 3 + 2x
                                    y = 0.01 + 1.2x
The graph of a linear equation of the form y = a + bx is a straight line. Any line that is not vertical can be described by this equation.

Example 2

Figure 1: Graph of the equation y = -1 + 2x.

Linear equations of this form occur in applications of life sciences, social sciences, psychology, business etc.

Example 2

Svetlana tutors to make extra money for college. For each tutoring session, she charges a one time fee of $25 plus $15 per hour of tutoring. A linear equation that expresses the total amount of money Svetlana earns for each session she tutors is y = 25 + 15x.
What are the independent and dependent variables? What is the y-intercept and what is the slope? Interpret them using complete sentences.

Solution

The independent variable (x) is the number of hours Svetlana tutors each session. The dependent variable (y) is the amount, in dollars, Svetlana earns for each session.
The y-intercept is 25 (a = 25). At the start of the tutoring session, Svetlana charges a one-time fee of $25 (this is when x = 0). The slope is 15 (b = 15). For each session, Svetlana earns $15 for each hour she tutors.

1.3 Scatter Plots
Before we take up the discussion of linear regression and correlation, we need to examine a way to display the relation between two variables x and y. The most common and easiest way is a scatter plot. The following example illustrates a scatter plot.

1.4 Slope and Y-Intercept of a Linear Equation

For the linear equation y = a + bx, b = slope and a = y-intercept. From algebra recall that the slope is a number that describes the steepness of a line and the y-intercept is the y coordinate of the point (0, a) where the line crosses the y-axis.

1.5 Facts about the Correlation Coefficient for Linear Regression
_ A positive r means that when x increases, y increases and when x decreases, y decreases (positive correlation).
_ A negative r means that when x increases, y decreases and when x decreases, y increases (negative correlation).
_ An r of zero means there is absolutely no linear relationship between x and y (no correlation).
_ High correlation does not suggest that x causes y or y causes x. We say "correlation does not imply causation." For example, every person who learned math in the 17th century is dead. However, learning math does not necessarily cause death!

How Windows programs use printer drivers

All Microsoft Windows programs require the printer driver to paginate a document. Printer drivers measure font information, based on the particular font selected (Courier, Times New Roman, Arial, and so on), and the font’s point size. The driver applies values (in pixels) to each of the font elements such as the average character height, character width, height of the ascenders and descenders, internal leading, external leading, and maximum character width to name a few. True type fonts can be sized to any height that is accepted by the printer driver. True Type fonts are WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) type fonts. This means that they can be printed exactly as they appear on the screen. For more information on True Type fonts, search the Windows online help.

When a particular font is selected, the Windows program executes a GetTextMetrics API call that queries the printer driver. The printer driver returns the TextMetric structure that contains the elements mentioned above and their assigned values. A structure exists for all fonts and all point sizes of a specific font. Now that the Windows application has all of the font information, it can assemble or paginate the document.

An inconsistency exists because different printer drivers measure the same font differently. For example, if a TrueType font is realized (measured) on two printers that use the same printer driver, and installed on the same version of Windows, the two fonts should have identical text metrics (the values, in pixels, of each of font elements should be the same). Problems could arise when you have:

• Two identical printers, but each one is using a different printer driver. Many printers can be driven using several different print drivers.

• Two different printers using the same printer driver. Some drivers can be used to drive several different printers.

• Two different printers using different printer drivers.

• One printer driver that uses the TrueType font while the other maps the TrueType font to a PostScript font (e.g. LaserJet in PCL mode versus LaserJet in Postscript mode).

• Two identical printers using the same printer drivers but each one is printing from a different version of Windows.

• Two identical printers where each printer is using the same printer driver, such as Hppcl5ms.drv, but the printer drivers are different versions.

• Two identical printers, two identical printer drivers, and two identical operating systems; however, the resolutions of the video drivers are different.

For example, a document using one printer driver may require six full lines to display a block of text; however, another printer driver that measures fonts narrower could result in the same block of text requiring less than six full lines. A third printer driver that measures fonts wider could require six full lines plus a seventh line to display the last one or two words.
